The Craftsman 59955 5-Drawer Ball Bearing Project Center

This is a 5-drawer unit, of primarily metal construction with a baked enamel finish. The exterior—with the exception of the drawer faces and back panel—is protected by sturdy plastic panels that provide storage as well as protection for surrounding surfaces. The unit has five drawers, which provide ample storage space—three shallow drawers and two deeper drawers which are great for larger tools. Each drawer is on ball-bearing slides, which allows for fluid, almost effortless operation. The unit has a galvanized steel top panel that locks in place as a work surface. When the top panel is slid aside, two top storage compartments are exposed—each of which has edge grooves to accomodate the three long metal and six short plastic dividers that fit into an array of configurations. We found the locking mechanisms easy to remove with the twist of a screwdriver, which allows the panel to move more fluidly for faster access to the top compartments.

An overhanging plastic component bolts into place around the unit's top, which provides two cup holders/ drill holsters, and five narrow, shallow bins of varying sizes. This piece also functions as a bumper, to prevent the metal edges from colliding with surrounding surfaces. The unit has plastic pegboard-panel sides, which are great for hanging tools or accessories. Four metal pegboard hooks are also provided. Notches are spaced up the unit's sides, which can hold in place the two hanging plastic organizers—each with four scoop-shaped compartments that are ideal for keeping small bits, fasteners, or tools separated and easily accessible. These organizers also fit nicely on the inside of any of the unit's drawers. The project center has an internal locking mechanism and comes with two keys.

The Craftsman model # 59955 weighs 129.7 lbs. and measures 39-1/4" tall, 33" wide, and 21" deep, provides 9,846 cubic inches of storage space, and is available through catalog purchase only, at around $359.99
